Development of a holistic sustainability concept
for viticulture in Baden-Württemberg in the areas of viticulture, oenology and marketing
Background and project objective
Politicians and society are increasingly calling for strategies to deal with the consequences of climate change. The adopted European Green Deal specifies measures to make an active contribution to maintaining agricultural supplies by reducing the use of pesticides, increasing organic farming and improving economic efficiency.
Following on from this, the aim of this project is to develop a holistic sustainability concept for the wine industry in Baden-Württemberg in the areas of viticulture, oenology and marketing. Particular attention is paid to new grape varieties (PIWIs).
Operational group - "Together we are strong"
Against this background, the Wine Campus Neustadt, the State Viticulture Institute (WBI) Freiburg, the State Teaching and Research Institute for Wine and Fruit Growing (LVWO) Weinsberg, the Baden-Württemberg Cooperative Association (BWGV) and 27 other stakeholders are working on innovative solutions. The practical benefits of the project are ensured through intensive cooperation with practitioners and have top priority.
