Looking back: Festive start to the semester on November 25, 2024
Scholarships are an essential part of support for students who are in financial need, are planning to study abroad or would like to take part in excursions. The funding for a student can range from 100 to 500 euros, depending on the type of scholarship. The scholarships enable students to concentrate fully on their education and studies and pursue their professional goals.
Meininger Verlag, represented by Christoph Meininger, presented a check in the amount of 7,500 euros. Schloss Wachenheim, represented by the Karl Josef Wagner Foundation, contributed 1,800 euros to the sponsorship. The Soroptimist Club Frankenthal, part of Soroptimist International, supported the students with a sum of 1,000 euros. The Deutschlandstipendium scholarship was also highlighted as another funding opportunity. Five students were honored.
In addition to the scholarship donors, other supporters also introduced themselves at the festive semester kick-off event. The Wine Campus Student Council makes a significant contribution to the organization and implementation of events. The Studierendenwerk Vorderpfalz offers comprehensive advice and support services as well as sponsored finger food and mineral water, while the university chaplaincy assists students in personal matters.
Representatives from the Bund deutscher Oenologen e.V. and the Neustadt Graduates' Association also informed students about their offers during and beyond their studies.
A special highlight of the event was the gesture by Dr. Andreas Böhringer, representative of the Neustadt City Council and Willkomm Neustadt, who presented each student with a chocolate Santa Claus. The sensory department's aroma course, which offers students a hands-on learning experience, was also presented.
Vinissima Frauen & Wein e.V. and the Neustadt an der Weinstraße community foundation also contribute to the promotion and networking of the students. This diverse support strengthens the sense of community and cooperation at the Wine Campus. November 25, 2024 was also the kick-off for the first semester of the new Viticulture & Enology (M. Sc.) Master's degree program, which particularly enjoyed the contact with fellow students and information about the Wine Campus. The ceremonial start of the semester offered the approximately 150 participants the opportunity to network and exchange ideas with the Student Council, alumni, lecturers and sponsors at a get-together at the wine bar. DJ RobG from Landau provided the musical backdrop for the start of the semester, creating a relaxed and good atmosphere.
The event was opened by Prof. Dr. Dominik Durner, Chairman of the Joint Committee of the departments, with a warm welcome. Prof. Dr. Ulrich Fischer from the Rural Area Service Center (DLR) Rheinpfalz and Wine Campus alumna Inga Klohr moderated the event and guided the guests through a varied program. A welcoming address by President Prof. Dr. Gunther Piller from the Ludwigshafen University of Business and Society rounded off the opening.
The Wine Campus Neustadt would like to thank all supporters and looks forward to a successful academic year 2024/25.
