Scenarios for liberalization in viticulture
An interdisciplinary research project has determined the areas in Rhineland-Palatinate that are potentially susceptible to frost damage using current data and taking climatic changes into account. A theoretical maximum scenario for viticulture was modeled and takes into account climate data, simulation runs of regional climate models, geodata, automated property maps and actual measurement data on frost damage. The findings are also extremely relevant in terms of aspects of optimized risk management in the face of increasing extreme weather influences.

Sustainability research with a focus on philanthropy
Business engagement in philanthropy improves both firm and the management of relationships. There is also evidence that consumers give support to those businesses choosing to support charitable causes. Whilst philanthropy as a subset of the corporate social responsibility (CSR) literature has been the focus of academic researchers for several decades, major gaps in knowledge remain with respect to actual company behaviors.
A global research study contributes by quantifying and comparing philanthropic practices in the wine industry of Australia, Spain, Germany, New Zealand, and the US. In particular, we examined whether wine businesses are actually undertaking philanthropy, and if so, what type of philanthropic activities they provide, the value of their philanthropy and the main beneficiaries.
